This is a moment for gratitude. Some people see having a child on the spectrum as a challenge, a disadvantage. Something to grieve. There are so many things that I am grateful for regarding my child. He is a super cuddly little boy. He makes profound eye contact by choice. His first instinct is either to laugh or to run away – joy or self preservation – both important. Most of all I am grateful for the feeling of connectedness to the universe and a greater purpose when I hold his warm tiny body in a tight hug that I want never to end.
